We had a very pleasant weekend in Merlot Cottage. Although situated near the main road, the cottage is quiet & private. The provisions were excellent, everything you could possible want! All in all, a very nice place to stay.

Merlot Cottage was a charming and comfortable place to stay for our 3 nights in the Barossa. The Cottage was well supplied for breakfast, the colonial cottage ambience was charming and the facilities were great for a romantic weekend getaway. It was private yet only a few minutes from town, wineries and restaurants. We would love to come back in the future!

It was a very pleasent stay, but quite noisy from the caravan park during the day and early evening. We could also not sit on the verandah on the kitchen side as something had died under the floor and it was a pretty unpleasent smell coming from there. Also we were pretty disappointed with the mushrooms left in the fridge. Clearly they were old and dehydrated and I presume that the previous occupants had not used them and they were left for us? We left a note in the fridge in this regard. Malcolm Stewart.

Management Response

Thankyou for your comments Malcom. We appreciate you bringing these things to our notice but are sorry you did not phone us at the time. We do strive to do our best at Merlot Cottage and understand noise can occasionally come from the caravan park, particularly at peak holiday times. Previous guests have never mentioned they had any problems in this area. The smell was not evidenced by ourselves nor our cleaner. A thorough investigation brought nothing to light. The mushroom incident will be watched in future. Thankyou for staying with us and for your review. Lian & Peter

Merlot Cottage is a beautiful little cottage just perfect for a getaway, the little touches that the hosts do just round it off completely, nothing like after a drive up to the Barossa late at night unlocking the door and having the fire lit and the place all lovely with wine and cheese ready for you to enjoy. A truly enjoyable weekend getaway.
