The new Barossa Backpackers provides budget accommodation in a crisp clean new hostel on the edge of the township of Tanunda right in the heart of the Barossa Valley. You are in the grounds of the magnificent and historic Chateau Tanunda with its massive bluestone walls, towers and courtyards and surrounded by vineyards - the grapevines are just outside your window! There is a choice of small, medium and large dormitory rooms or why not choose a private (or family) room. All guests share separate male and female toilet and shower blocks The all new central shared kitchen has plenty of room to prepare your meals as well as an adjacent communal refrigerator and dry food store. Relax in the TV lounge with large screen TV or outdoors on the lawn area and verandah overlooking the adjacent winery and vineyards. There is a communal use BBQ. There is an on site coin operated laundry with washers and driers. The hostel features WiFi wireless Internet plus three PC's in reception available at nominal access cost. Bicycles are available for hire to tour the vineyards and go wine tasting at nearby cellar doors. Fresh clean bedding including sheets and pillows and quilt are provided for each sleeping position. You will need to provide your own bath towel.

Barossa Backpackers is located in the grounds of Chateau Tanunda - the largest and most historic winery in Tanunda. The hostel is only 500 metres back from the main street (Murray Street) so you can walk out to shops, restaurants and hotels. The grape vineyards come right up to the building and there are cellar door wine tasting facilities at the adjacent Chateau.

Barossa Backpackers provides Bicycle Hire - grab a bike and meander through the vineyards and visit cellar door outlets and taste the Barossa. A map and discount card are given out when you hire a bicycle. You can book your Bicycle on-line on this website to ensure that a bike is ready for you when you arrive.

Getting There:
Barossa Backpackers is at 9 Basedow Road, Tanunda. Turn off the main street (Murray Street) into Basedow Road, go over the railway line and Barossa backpackers is 250 metres along on the right hand in a vineyard setting.
