The house is lovely, the beds very comfortable and the heating very effective. The underfloor heating in the bathroom is especially welcome! We loved Lyndoch as a location as it is very centrally placed and easy to walk around as well as drive to other centres in the Barossa. We found everyone in the region very friendly and welcoming. The only small problem we encountered was the electric stove top, for those not used to cooking with electricity. You probably have no alternatives?

Hi, glad you enjoyed your stay. As to the stove - yes that is correct - there is no mains gas in Lyndoch. Bottles can be a problem as they tend to run out at awkward times.

This accomodation might be a bit more expensive than some but rest assured it is better value with the attention to detail right down to the forgotten toothbrush if needed. Well appointed and incredibly cosy, relaxing and has a unique feel about it,this beautiful 150+ year old cottage is an accomodation treasure to remember. Would highly recommend and would stay longer next time.

We simply loved the place. It set a great athomsphere for a romantic getaway. The whole place oozed character and while intially the desire was to go out for dinner, we couldnt tear ourselves away from the lovely setting. If one thing could be improved it would be the faucet on the bathroom sink. The fact there was food, drinks and nibbles (especially the bread) was simply fantastic. We shall be back!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the tap is a bit wobbly but it has been like it from new. Unfortunately they are expensive things and the shop it was bought from has closed. I guess we will have to change it soon but it does work fine. Look forward to your next visit. Malinda

This was a lovely cottage, nicely furnished( very comfy sofas),with a pretty garden and outdoor setting/ BBQ area. They had thought of everything ( even rubber gloves, small I know but I hate washing up without them.) The breakfast provisions were very generous, and other than the usual eggs bacon cereal there were beautiful home grown tomatoes and excellent home made bread delivered fresh every day , real treats. We would return there again if staying in the Barossa. Enjoyed the spa too, and didn't feel guilty using all that water given the amount of rain we have had!

A little more fresh air would be good but no fly screens and therefore still have a problem with mosquitoes (probably from the neighbour's in-ground pool that is not in use) and flies in the house. Operators have provided can of insect spray which was used to rectify this. Excellent location and breakfast provisions more than adequate for our three night requirement. Recommend the Lord Lyndoch for a meal, excellent food.

Loved the little touches (e.g. port) that made the cottage a great place for our stay.

We found our stay in Daisy Randall cottage, to be most comfortable, it would have been even better had there been laundry facilities.

Management Response

Hi Margaret thanks for that. Yes we would like a laundry too but it is the old time and money thing. We had to sacrifice the old laundry to make the bathroom comfortable. We hope to put in an outside laundry one day. cheers Malinda

Beautiful little cottage in a very convenient location. Had great weather and really enjoyed sitting outside under the huge grapevine! 2 minor issues were the quality of the port and sparkling red was pretty bad, but we weren't expecting them anyway so no matter and having to unload the dishwasher ourselves when we arrived to get some glasses. The freshly baked bread each day was a fantastic touch! Will definitely recommend staying here to friends and family.

Management Response

We are sorry you did not like the complimentary port and wine - the port is sourced from Kies Family Wines - its their Bastardo - their most popular aged tawny. The sparkling Shiraz is made by Trevor Jones at Kellermeister - it is a dry full flavoured sparkling - normally retails for just under $20 a bottle and has a massive following. Wines are very much a personal taste thing - and we are lucky that here in the Barossa we have such a variety to choose from. We trust you found something that suited your palate

Wow! Just lovely! Bandicoot Nest is all set up as either a base for your Barossa tours (with guides, maps, and even menus all handy), or as a comfy, luxurious holiday in a self-contained, fully-kitted out cottage! Provisions are plentiful (loved that port!), and the facilities are top notch. Couldn't have asked for anything more! We're looking forward to coming here again with some friends for a longer getaway next time. Could've easily stayed a week. One thing - don't forget to ring ahead before you arrive so you can be let in and shown how everything works!

Thanks for your feedback - Portugese Millipedes are a part of life in the Barossa - we always give guests a brief run down on how to deal with them on check-in - they don't bite and are not poisonous - kind of cute in a weird sort of way!

The only disappointing thing about this place was the hot water running out as they were using a night tarrif, which means we could only have one spa on the Saturday. Everything else was fantastic, A little more kindling for the fire was needed also. But The place was soo beautiful, the service was great facilities were very modern, the rooms were large and the bed was soo comfortable. really liked the interior design and the feel of the place. We had a great time.

Hi, thanks for that. Glad you enjoyed the place. Sorry about the hot water. 300 litres is usually enough for most guests. Continuous hot water would be very bad environmentally if people are going to use a kilo litre a day just for recreational bathing.

Daisy Randall in Lyndoch was a perfect location from which to explore the Barossa - a comfortably restored mid 1800's stone cottage in a quiet location within walking distance of the bakery, pub, restaurants, supermarket etc., and only a short drive to all the more popular centres such as Tanunda & Angaston (25Km), with dozens of wineries within striking distance. Take local recommendations on which wineries to visit.

The best accommodation we stayed in for our entire six week holiday hands down. Such lovely attention to detail and our comfort - you could tell the owner cared about her guests. For example, all kitchen items were quality including appliances. Spa was to die for. Gorgeous bed. Will return happily in future.

We had a lovely stay at Daisy Randall, it was a cute wonky little house full of character to get us into the spirit of the Barossa Valley. We had ample breakfast provisions, the place was well heated and really comfortable. It was great to be able to walk to the Lord Lyndoch Hotel for dinner, IGA and bakery and even a fantastic cellar door.

What a gorgeous little cottage, a cooked brekky in the alfresco area was the highlight! Our only complaint was that we couldn't find any matches to light the fire, which led to a very creative fire lighting challenge, but an otherwise wonderful experience!

Glad you enjoyed your stay - as you were the first to use the wood fire for 6 months we forgot to let you know where the matches were kept! You Boy Scout skills came in handy. The outdoor area with BBQ under the 100 year old grapevine is indeed a great place to relax at any time of the day.

Had a great stay at Currawong Roost. We stayed there for a Day on the Green with the B52s. Although it was 15 kms from Tanunda our host ,Naigare (sorry about the spelling) from the B and B booking service went out of her way to ferry us to and from the concert, for which we were extremely grateful. I would highly recommend Currawong Roost for a delightful stay. Only one thing is to bring an eye mask for the morning as the sun certailnly shines in through the bedroom window early.

Apologies, but I've been travelling again and haven't had access to my personal email for some time. My girlfriend from Spain and I travel to a wine region each year. We spent a fantastic four nights at the Daisy Randall at Lyndoch. It was really our home in the Barossa. Check-in was delayed only because I didn't read the instructions properly. After a phone call, the owner arrived within five minutes. She provided fresh bread (home baked) twice during our stay, and the most fantastic smokey bacon (kaesler I think). The locality was perfect for our Barossa touring and we spent most afternoons with a bottle from one of the wineries we had visited each day and some local produce from Maggie Beer's. I've already recommended the location to friends who are visiting the Barossa in December, and will definitely return in 2010.

We found the accomodation to be an excellent venue. It was well presented and offered everything one would want for a short or extended stay. There was a good mix of the old & the new in its appeal & fittings, making it feel very homely. The only negatives we noticed were, there was no soap holder in the shower and a radio/CD player (with an iPod dock) in the kitchen/dining area would be handy. Also easier to identify from the street at night time, especially when you are arriving the first time. We would definately stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

Thanks so much for your feedback - we have now put another soap holder in the shower - the last one was a "stick on" type and it came off. Good idea about the radio/Cd - we will also look for a sound machine for the kitchen.

WOW - this place was fantastic - the attention to detail and crisp clean finishes made our stay one to remember - this ancient old cottage was soooo cosy and cool on a hot day.
